Hindu Council of Birmingham was established in 1986 as one of the consultative forum to provide a single contact point to Birmingham City Council for the Hindu residents and Birmingham and Solihull . 

Hindu Council has played an active role in the diversity and interfaith activities in the city, particularly in areas where the interests of the local Hindu community needs to be represented.

As an umbrella organisation, Hindu Council is the single, unified representation of the Hindu community in Birmingham and Solihull.

  Our Work
  Hindu Council works with the affiliated organisations and community partners to deliver a number of activities and programmes designed to:
bullet Build capacity and develop the community.
bullet Develop relationships with other faiths and public bodies
bullet Represent Hindu community at all levels with Council and other public institutions
bullet Develop capacity and capabilities of Hindu Community.
bullet Improve intra and internal communications
bullet Cohesion and Interfaith work role in the Faith Leaders Group
bullet Representation on the Solihull Faith Forum
bullet Organise main  cultural events such as Diwali celebrations
bulletDevelopment programmes and social activities for the youth

 

  Our Objective
  Hindu Council's main  objectives are:
bulletTo make Hindu community the most vibrant, integrated and highly respected of the ethnic communities in the Midlands.
bulletTo expound the Hindu ethos of cohesion and coexistence.
bulletTo unify, mobilise and invigorate the Hindus in Birmingham and Solihull area.
