  Consultation Project Started
The consultation project has started. Hindu Council has employed a specialised company to conduct telephone interviews to ensure that we have a frank and impartial responses. Our main aim is to establish the grass root opinions so that we can focus our resources and energy in addressing the issues that matters that concerns most of us.
If you are one of the fortunate one to be picked for the telephone interview, please do participate. It will take take only 20 minutes of your time. Your details will not be revealed to any one. Even Hindu Council will not receive personal details. All we are interested in your answers to the set of questions. Remember the collection of this information is vital for Hindu community.

  Dilwali 2007
 

Diwali 2007 proved to a major success. Nearly 6,000 people enjoyed the festival. The Mild weather has helped us, but the whole show was fantastic. The stage events were excellent, and Jay Sean capped it all.

Mayors Visit Laxmi Narayan Mandir for Raksha Bandhan 2007
 

Hindu Council, working in conjunction with Shree Hindu Community Centre, invited Cllr Brew, Lord Mayor of Birmingham and Cllr Allport,Mayor of Solihull to the temple. Cllr Apport was accompanied by Mayoress.Both mayors of Birmingham and Solihull visited Shree Laxmi Narayan Mandir on 26th August to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

 

Hindu Council to work with Lord Mayor to organise a Civic Ceremony at a Hindu Temple

Cllr Brew,  Lord Mayor of Birmingham with Cllr Allport and Gail Thompson, Mayor and Mayoress of Solihull at the HCB organised Raksha Bandhan celebration

 

Mahendra Dabhi, President, welcomed the guests and the congregation gathered to celebrate the festival. "This is a first for the Hindu community when a gathering is attended by both mayors of Birmingham and Solihull" and went on to add "this reflect the congregation of the mix of residents from both area

Cllr Brew, addressing the public outlined the contribution of the Hindu community, and mentioned his pleasant surprise to see so many people. Apart from being impressed at the vibrant community centre, Cllr Brew also announced that he will be

 

working with Hindu Council and Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple to explore the holding a Hindu Civic Ceremony.

Cllr Allport was very impressed by the welcome, and particularly appreciated by the impromptu Hindu style wedding send-off to his forth coming marriage to Gail Thopmson in two weeks.
